STEVE TAYLOR MEMORIAL
Sponsor Town and Country Cars and Chelthenham and Gloucester Building Society After being in breaks all day, Rob Hurd (Peleton) managed to stay away over the finishing climb to win the Steve Taylor Memorial ahead of James Taylor and Martin Forde. According to Dan Gregory in the commisaires car, Rob Hurd put in a superb effort to put in to bridge the gap on the last lap. When I left the race to make my way to the finish, there was a small break and two riders were trying to get across, one of them was Rob Hurd, the other from team Synergy. The break's lead according to Dan was hovering between 40 and 20 secs when from the commisaire car he saw the figure of Rob in the rear view mirror ... as Dan went up the last hill towards Staunton, Hurd bridged across to the break, and then on the last hill before the final turn off at about 1500 meters, he got away again and stayed in front up the hill all the way to the finish.
