Parrot Print Racing Team News

Our most consistent rider this season Danny Axford is still keeping in trim by riding several hill climb races this winter. Ideally built for this kind of competition Axford is picking up successes in the kind of event that former Stilton rider Dr James Henderson (4 times National Champion) revelled in. Ironically Danny also seems to emulate Hendersons academic background as well

This weekend it is the turn of Oakham James Cambridge (above) to come under the team spotlight and we start with the news that James will in all probability start his 2004 campaign as he did last season in the sunnier climes of the Dominican Republic. At the end of 2002 Cambridge left his home of 10 years in Belgium to race back in the UK and on the advice of his long term mentor Bill Vetcher, our Team Masseur, James signed for the team for 03. His new season kicked off with him riding some 17 races in the Dominican Republic with 2 impressive wins including a stage win in the UCI ranked National tour

His debut in the UK however, was none too impressive though his appearance was. He had so many clothes on that he looked like a Michelin Man, so cold was he after racing in temperatures in the high 70s. As the season wore on his form came back and though he disappointed himself several times at Premier Trophy level , his class was evident and 3 wins in the UK added to his already impressive palmares

James had an impressive career in Belgium and rode confidently in some big events and won several races including the UCI ranked Laurent Becquart Memorial and the Vuelta Ciclistica Indepenedencia 11 day stage race of Dominica in 2000. James is a good team rider and can now entertain the lads with his tales of racing in the heartland of the sport and we look forward to a steady contribution to the team in 04
