Opportunities with British Cycling

British Cycling’s key to success is the delivery of its Forward Plan through talented employees who can work within our sport at all levels. We now have opportunities for enthusiastic, appropriately qualified individuals to join us in the following roles.

Coaching & Education Officer £negotiable
Manchester

Our Coaching and Education team, based at the National Cycling Centre aims to improve the standard and profile of coaching, leadership and education in cycling, with the aim of developing cycling in the U.K., from participation to performance. We are looking for an individual to join our team, to assist us in creating, improving and delivering cycling specific education programmes.

To succeed in this role you will need to demonstrate a passion for sport (cycling preferred, but not essential), excellent planning, organisation, interpersonal and communication skills, including the sensitivity to work with and inspire coaches, leaders and others working in the sport. A degree in PE, Coaching, Sports Science or a related subject is preferred together with significant experience and understanding of coaching, leadership and education programmes. Our success relies on sharing the team’s values of commitment to constant improvement, innovation and creativity.


Regional Coaching and Club Development Officer £ negotiable + car
Welwyn Garden City

The new Go-Ride Club Development programme lays the foundations for the future of British Cycling clubs. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the Go-Ride club development programme to support the delivery of school and community based opportunities for young people to participate in cycling and realise their full potential. This will include, establishing, developing, supporting and accrediting school and community clubs, providing funding advice , supporting a training and education programme, including a CPD programme for club officials and volunteers, and delivering Coach Education and other courses.

Success in this role rests upon a sound knowledge of coaching theory and practice, evidenced by a degree in a relevant subject and a NGB coaching qualification, a sound knowledge of club development theory and practice, experience in accreditation, evaluation and quality assurance procedures combined with skills in planning and organising yourself and others, and management and interpersonal skills. You must have a passion for cycle sport and the enthusiasm to implement world’s best practice in the Continuing Professional Development of coaches, club officials and volunteers working in the sport.

All of our employees are automatically awarded Gold Membership of British Cycling. Our hours of work are 37.5 per week, although weekend and evening work will be required. Holidays are 20 days per year (pro rata), with membership of the pension scheme offered on completion of 1 year’s service.
