Here are some pictures from the Great Britain Mens Endurance team competing in the French stage race, Ruban Granitier.
The official starter of Stage 2 was Pluvigner born and bred Jean Marie GOASMAT who enjoyed his 90th birthday last month. A professional from 1934 to 1951, he rode the Tour de France six times and meilleur grimpeur long before the invention of the Polka Dot Jersey. He won many top races including the GP Des Nations, Criterium du Dauphine, French champs etc. He's still only about 7 and a half stones soaking wet, has the posture of a fit young man and still occasionally puts his leg over a top tube. He's currently enjoying an exhibition of pics and momentoes of his career in the Mairie at Pluvigner and is the subject of a special art project in his honour completed by the schoolchildren of the town. How fondly the French regard their cycling heroes!!
