Tour of Valencia: David Millar is 5th on stage 1

Great Britain's highest ranked professional in the world of road racing, David Millar (Cofidis), has finished 5th on the opening stage of the Tour of Valencia, a '2.3' ranked race in the UCI International race calendar. The performance came in his speciality event, the Time Trial, one that has seen him finish second in the World Championships and also win stages in the Tour de France. His performance in Valencia was all the more remarkable because its only his second race of the season.

There was also a good performance from his teammate and fellow Brit Rob Hayles, who has been mixing his racing up a lot lately, from racing in the South of France, to riding for Great Britain on the track in Moscow. Rob finished 19th in the test against the watch in Valencia.
