LILLISTONE AND BUCKLE APPOINTMENTS

Former Riders Join GB Set-Up

Simon Lillistone's permanent appointment to the post of the GB Team's National Development Team Manager has been announced following an open recruitment process. Simon has been caretaking this post since October 2002. Simon is a former Olympian and national track champion and has worked in the cycle industry, notably for Giro Helmets, since retiring in the mid nineties. His responsibilities include managing, within the GB Team and the Talent Team, the historically difficult transition of riders from Junior to Senior ranks

A new addition to the Talent Team is another former international, Tim Buckle who was part of the GB Team as recently as last season. Tim has been appointed as a a Regional Talent Coach based in the Midlands working alongside regional manager Debbie Wharton and fellow coach Jenny Gretton.

Tim and Simon's appointments continue a welcome recent trend for former riders to build careers within the coaching and talent identification staffs of the GB Team - other notable appointments include Jonny Clay, Phil West, Claire Rushworth, Helen Mortimer (all Talent Team staff) and Rod Ellingworth, Neil Walker, Nick Craig, Shane Sutton (GB Senior Squad staff).
