REVOLUTION 2 SET FOR NEW YEAR

| REVOLUTION 1 GALLERY & RESULTS | REVOLUTIONS WEBSITE | MANCHESTER VELODROME |
LEARN ABOUT TRACK RACING

WHEN: Saturday Evening, January 24 2004 ( Doors open at 5.30pm - racing starts 7pm) Manchester Velodrome

The second event in the new Revolution Track Racing Series, brought to you by Face Partnership, British Cycling and the Manchester Velodrome, will take place on the 24th January at the Manchester Velodrome. Following the enormous success of Revolution 1, which attracted over 3000 spectators, the second Revolution will offer another great night of high adrenalin track racing.

Revolution 2 will focus on endurance races in the absence of the World Class Performance Sprinters (currently in Australia) who will be racing at Revolution 3 on 28th February. There will, however, be some sprint action with a Keirin competition squeezed in alongside Points, Scratch and Devil Endurance races.

New for Revolution 2 will be a 1500m Time Trial, 1km Madison Time Trial and a 3km Derny Paced Pursuit. A team sprint competition will also boost the action in the Future Stars racing, which proved just as popular as the elite races at Revolution 1.

With several top British track riders now confirmed including Chris Newton, Rob Hayles, Paul Manning, Bryan Steel, Malcolm Elliott and Tony Gibb who is currenlty on fire in South Africa, top quality racing will be guaranteed. Final negotiations are underway to bring some international names to challenge our British boys so keep posted on www.cyclingrevolution.com for more news.

SPECIAL EVENTS
The program for Revolution 2 will see a number of special events. These are:

DERNY PURSUIT: A pursuit is where two (sometimes more) riders race alone against the watch and each other. In a normal pursuit, two riders will start on opposite sides of the track and ride as fast as they can over a distance of 4km.For Revolution 2, the organisers have been more creative and the riders will be paced by a derny (small motorbike) over 3km which means nnot only will it be very fast and very noisy, it will also be wickedly exciting!

MADISON TIME TRIAL: I first saw one of these at Newport and its not to be missed.Combining the exciting of the hand sling in the madison with the high octane speed of a short time trial, spectators will see a team of two riders combining to record the fastest time over 4 laps of the track (1km). The first rider gets a flying start and then after two laps, slings his partner into the action. This too will be one hell of an event to see!

MOTOR PACED SCRATCH RACE: A fast and furious distance race where the riders won't have to worry about who does the pace making because the derny, a small motor bike will do that for the first 4km in a 6km (4 miles approx) race. Then with 2km to go, the derny will swing off the track and the riders then take the race to their rivals in an attempt to get across the line first. Watch for the suprise attack once the derny swings off!
