Parrot Print Racing Team Awards

After my rant last week at the BBC and the way our sport is perceived by our so called media leader in particular, I am delighted to see that cycling is at last getting the rewards that some participants richly deserve

Nicole Cooke the World Cup and Commonwealth Games Champion has just been crowned BBC Welsh Sports Personality and Chris Hoy the former double World Champion has just won the BBC Scottish equivalent. The icing on the cake though was Tour de France mega star Lance Armstrong winning the overseas award. As the current Sportsman of the World however, not even the Beeb could ignore that fact.

As our local press did not see fit to include either the team or its riders in their Sports awards I have to nominate my own awards and they are:

Best Individual Rider: Danny Axford

Best Individual Performance: James Cambridge

Best stage rider: Roger Morgan

Best sprinter: Steve Dring:

Best time triallist: Gavin Poupart

Best team captain: Andy Lyons

Best team rider: Paul Dring

Unluckiest Rider: Dean Shannon

Best Team: Parrot Print TAL RT-goes without saying!

Most Helpful Sponsor: All of them!

Supporters of the year: The wives and families

Best Press photographers: Larry Hickmott/Gerry McManus/Paul Wright

Best mascot: Roger our Parrot

On a more serious and positive note the Parrot Print TAL team hopefully will have some news to report shortly regarding a new signing, terms have been agreed and we are just waiting on a signature

Finally this will be our final press release of the year (yippee) as I have a more pressing engagement on January 2nd with my daughters wedding. It just remains to thank everyone for their support this year and to wish everyone a wonderful Xmas and prosperous new year

Regards, Dave Stanbridge
