CHESHIRE CLASSIC -- WOMENS NATIONAL SERIES
| NEWS CENTRE| RESULTS | PHOTOS | INTERVIEWS | FREE CLASSIFIEDS |

The Womens National Series, won last year by Dianne Moss, begins again this year in a little place called Weaverham in Cheshire. With the headquarters in the local Community Hall, the riders will travel out to the course which comprises 10 laps of a 4.8 mile (7.7km) circuit.

The start time is 10 am and distance for the event is 80km. So far the organiser has 38 entries but will allow entries on the line for those who may feel inspired after what has been a great week for Womens racing after Nicole Cooke's awesome performances in Holland and Belgium. Nicole is a former winner of this race.

The course of 4.8 miles, perfect length for the less expereinced, is rolling which means one short sharp hill and a long drag to test the legs of the women taking part. And best of all, the cameras of British Cycling will be on you so you can give your club or sponsor a chance of getting there name splashed over the British Cycling website. So don't forget to give us a wave!

The ability of the riders taking part varies from a Great Britain riders riding for their domestic teams to many just starting out in the sport perhaps hoping to emulate the success that Nicole has had. It should also be remembered that many of the riders on the Great Britain team made their way onto the team through their performances in the national series. Riders like a newcomer to the GB squad in 2003 Charlotte Goldsmith for example and of course, Rachel Heal, who only a few weeks ago was 8th in a Womens World Cup race.

The organiser tells me the best way there is the M56 and then take the A49 turnoff. For those wanting to expereince womens only racing, the organisers details are David Wallace, 01606 352 398.
